The Meaning of Grandparents
Grandparents are a warm embrace for our children, a welcoming smile, a loving wink. Capturing the love between a grandchild and her grandparents is a cherished treasure. Grandparents might live down the road in the same town, in another city or even another country on the other side of the world! Keeping in touch with our parents is so much easier today than it was even a decade ago. The lines of communication are open, but there’s nothing like your mom’s embrace or your father’s teasing that’s best received in person. Using technology to keep in touch while you’re physically apart is a surefire way to enhance your connection when you do get back together for a visit. It seems like Karen and her family have stayed in touch, because everyone began the photo session in high spirits and ready to work together!
From Singapore to Ball’s Falls
Located in the beautiful Niagara Region is a quaint provincial park called, Ball’s Falls. The park is full of picture-taking opportunities! It was a sunny, gorgeous day for taking photos and we were able to capture images from pretty much everywhere in the park. From the falls, the rustic barn, the 20-mile creek and the bridge, we left no rock unturned in our quest for the best family photos. The children’s grandparents travelled all the way from Singapore to visit with their family and to take some photos together. It was the least we could do!
On-the-Go Photos
As the family walked from one photo location to another within the park, I was able to capture some of my favourite images of the day. Karen’s kids and their cousins were having fun picking grass, running and playing along the way. The younger kids were always asking to be picked up and while that might have been annoying for their parents, it was a blessing for me! I was able to walk behind and snap photos of the young girls with their loved ones along the way. From hugs to handstands, we were able to create some fun images!
One Shot Deal
Family reunions are a chance to bring everyone together for one large, inclusive family photo. They are also a great opportunity for taking portraits of each individual family – cousins and their parents, grandparents on their own, etc. Karen’s family now has a set of photos that are set in a similar tone, yet captures everyone’s unique personality.
The whole day I spent at Ball’s Falls with Karen and her family was fun and enlightening. Karen’s entire family – from her kids and their cousins to her parents and siblings – were a pleasure to work with. I can’t wait to work with them again!
My passion and biggest asset is taking the time to make every client comfortable and relaxed before I even pick up the camera. The result? Photos of you that actually look like you at your best! I can prove to you how much you can enjoy having your picture taken. Lifestyle photography is about the experience that happens to be served up along side of some great photos.
