Newborns like to tell stories with the faces they make. Young Oliver had plenty of stories to share during my photo shoot with him and his lovely family.
Taking his first breathe. Looking wide-eyed at the world. The bright lights. The noises no longer muffled. Newborns arrive into the world as a blank slate. And yet, when I take photographs of newborns like Oliver, it looks almost like he’s a wise old man with stories to share. Each cocked-grin and every furrowed eyebrow gives me a glimpse into his fresh, new world.
Friends Make Great Models
One of my favourite families to photograph has to be our dear friends Victoria and Tim. Our older children have been having play dates since before they knew they were having playdates. Community programs like Ontario Early Years centres play an integral part in the lives of parents with young children. It was through a Parent & Tot program that my wife met Oliver’s mom, Victoria. The kids and parents alike, hit it off immediately!
No Editing!
Not everyone is a fan of having their photographs edited. Some love it. Some, not so much. I’ve learned over the years to strike a balance for my clients and to listen closely to find out what they want. Majority of people though, land on the same side of the argument when having their newborn’s photos taken – no editing necessary! Newborns are perfect from head to toe. They come into this world as perfect little creatures, ready to accept our compassion and love. What’s to edit from that picture?!
A Toddler’s Love
One of my favourite images from Oliver’s family photo shoot came at the end of the session. I arranged his parents and Oliver on a chair, snuggled in close. As with all toddlers, Oliver’s older brother was a bundle of energy, running around and playing. It’s always amazing to see active toddlers like this, suddenly stop in their footsteps when they see their family members exchanging hugs and kisses. This little boy ran over to his parents, snuggled in for some loving for himself and then, just as quick as he came in, left to play with a new toy.
My passion and biggest asset is taking the time to make every client comfortable and relaxed before I even pick up the camera. The result? Photos of you that actually look like you at your best! I can prove to you how much you can enjoy having your picture taken. Lifestyle photography is about the experience that happens to be served up along side of some great photos.
