With being a preferred vendor comes a sense of responsibility. If a venue is vouching for your services then you need to exceed their expectations and make sure your styles align. As an Edgewater Manor photographer, I know the property inside out. However, I still feel the need to make sure I am constantly challenging myself. For every event, I understand the necessity of bringing something new to the table and delivering a unique set of photos for my couple.<\/p>\n

David is a regular customer at Edgewater\u2019s other location, Terrace on the Green<\/em><\/a> in Brampton. Striking up a relationship with the owner, Alex, he asked for a personal recommendation for a photographer. This led to our meeting and subsequent booking. With several other preferred vendors, including BBBlooms floral studio, David and Nancy had the wedding of their dreams at the picturesque lakeside mansion.<\/p>\n

We started off their day upstairs with the girls getting ready in the bridal suite overlooking the water. I wanted to make sure I captured all of the details; from the delicate buttons on her dress and the heart back of her nieces dress, to the sparkling shoes that matched her ring. This is when we can draw the attention to where it needs to be focused. Honing in on these special details emphasizes them while not polluting the image with other unneeded things.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, David, his son and his father got ready and prepared themselves for the emotional day. I made sure to utilize the mirrors in both of the rooms to capture the emotions and unspoken words. They were an amazing prop to show the dynamics of the relationships between the parties. Not many couples can pull of a series of black and white photos. However, both David and Nancy had such strong personalities that this style enhanced the emotions and added a dramatic edge to the images.<\/p>\n

I have been working as a professional photographer for over 20 years. During this time, I have rarely seen a florist stay on-site once the flowers had been arranged. Not only did Brad, owner of BBBlooms<\/em><\/a> stay to personally put on the boutonnieres. He also wanted to transfer the flowers from outside on the trellis to the head table as a feature piece to make sure everything was just right.<\/p>\n

When I asked about it, he told me he waits because he likes to see how the flower is going to behave. The breeze and sun from the lake can affect the way it reacts. So, his job isn\u2019t complete until he is satisfied the flowers are in their final location of the day. It was so refreshing to meet a wedding professional that is equally as dedicated to exceeding his clients needs. I can see why he was so highly recommended!<\/p>\n

As their ceremony started outside with the lake behind them, I could see David shedding a tear. I wanted to capture both his emotions and find out what was evoking it. So, I swivelled around to capture Nancy starting her walk towards him. It was easy to see the dynamics of the families and how excited everyone was to see them say their vows.<\/p>\n

The beauty of a one stop shop is that there is less downtime for the guests between the ceremony and reception. At this time, I whisked the couple away quickly for some intimate photography. We were able to utilize the Romeo and Juliet balcony, the rock lined shores and the grand marble staircase. Meanwhile, the guests were happy to get their own photos down by the lake and in the opulent mansion. I loved the black and white photo of them up on the balcony and her niece twirling her dress as she enters the building. She must have felt like such a princess as she marvelled at the grandeur of the building.<\/p>\n

The weather was glorious so Nancy and David decided to hold the first dance outside on the patio. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, the couple danced to their delight. With the reception bringing everyone inside into the main dining room, I snapped a picture of David\u2019s father who was resting his legs after standing for too long. It is capturing simple elements like this that adds a realness to their story.<\/p>\n

The speeches saw tears and raw emotion. Guests alternated between hilarity and tears before they all hit the dance floor. Even though there is a sense of prestige and grandness to Edgewater Manor, their guests had a blast as they kicked off their heels and partied into the night. Our evening ended with my signature nighttime shots with Nancy and David, focusing on their silhouettes and the twinkling lights in the background. Then, they joined their loved ones to dance the evening away.<\/p>\n
