When the wedding couple get to their big day, it’s so important for both the bride and groom to spend time with their respective parties. Their bridesmaids and groomsmen have been hand-picked for their important or impactful presence in their lives and the wish to include them in their celebration. It’s easy to get swept away by the excitement and grandeur of the looming ceremony and reception, but the morning which is spent prepping with their party offers valuable downtime. This is a great time to get some very heartfelt and emotionally charged photos as people often offer advice, calm nerves and reminisce. This image was taken during this important preparation time and the closeness, family bonds and love were captured beautifully. I added additional lighting to naturally highlight the bridesmaids and it reflected subtly off their satin gowns. The girls are all gathered around the bride in coordinating robes as they sip champagne and offer some words of wisdom. The vibe was relaxed, informal and comfortable and their laughs were genuine and natural. Their hair is already done, and all they were waiting for was to slip on their bridesmaid dresses and help the bride into hers. I purposefully made the bridesmaids at Carmen’s banquet hall the focus point with the subtle lighting, and left the rest of the composition in its natural light.
