Fiona’s husband had presented his wife with an amazing gift of a family photography session. With fall quickly approaching, she was eager to start planning. Having worked as a Brampton family photographer for many years, I suggested Heart Lake Conservation Area. Brampton is getting so built up now that it can be hard to escape the busy flow of the city and to find nature. This versatile space is perfect for whisking my clients away to. Definitely, it looks great whatever the season or weather as well as being hidden from onlookers.
As we started our session the daughter was raring to go and camera ready whilst the son took longer to warm up. When Fiona and her husband saw their children relaxing and having fun, they themselves loosened up. Once relaxed, we were able to get some really beautifully candid shots! I always try to limit the posed positions, especially at the beginning of the session. I try to instead focus on letting the children explore their surroundings. As they build confidence and play with the people around them, everyone’s natural emotions come out creating carefree energy. I like to showcase the uniqueness of each connection and bond, whether it is in the special way they hold hands or the particular way the parents make them feel safe and comfortable through touch.
A top secret tip from a Brampton family photographer that will guarantee better fall photos
We made the most of the many backdrops available at Heart Lake Conservation Area. There are so many: from the natural framing of the birch trees that were perfect for the children to peek from behind, to the lake, broad-walk and forest. As we were exploring natures ready made props surrounding us, we discovered what beautiful lines the wooden steps made in the background.
Fiona and her family were so open to everything I asked them to do. From suggestions of what to do to what they should try to wear for the session. As a result, her red top offered a great contrast to the greenery. Once we had wrapped up for the afternoon and were heading back to the carpark I saw an opportunity too good to pass up. As the sun starts to go down, it can create what’s known as the golden hour. The golden rays were highlighting the scenery behind us and delicately accentuating their features as it hit their faces. Having considered themselves done for the day, everyone had let go of any worries or insecurities in front of the camera. Consequently, these last few impromptu images actually ended up being some of our favourites.
If you follow the advice from this Brampton family photographer your fall photos will be sure to impress
One of the biggest tips I can suggest for fall sessions as a Brampton family photographer is to schedule a date at the beginning of the season. At this time, the leaves are starting to change colour but the weather is a little more predictable. The later on you get into October and beyond, it’s harder to anticipate! There is then a higher chance of rain or wind that will leave you with bare branches, defying the point of fall photography!
Have you done your early fall session already? If you haven’t please feel free to reach out, we may be able to create some magic for you.
My passion and biggest asset is taking the time to make every client comfortable and relaxed before I even pick up the camera. The result? Photos of you that actually look like you at your best! I can prove to you how much you can enjoy having your picture taken. Lifestyle photography is about the experience that happens to be served up along side of some great photos.
