During our time in the Quinte area, I was able to catch up with my wife’s cousin Tristan and her family. Her 2-year old toddler was a blast to work with and such an active little guy. During our photo shoot my sister-in-law Jenn, took a behind-the-scenes Instagram photo of me just doing what I do. When she took the photo, I kept running ahead of Tristan’s son and throwing leaves to keep him excited and smiling. He was so happy on this morning and giggling. His giggles seem to radiate through the images which every children photographer will find very useful.
Two years ago I was able to capture Tristan and her pregnancy glow during her maternity photo shoot. Being that Tristan is part of our family, we know a little more about her and her family than we do our average clients. We know that her son has had similar sensitivity issues with food and his digestive system as ours did when he was a baby. As all parents know, the late night wakings, feedings and endless hours spent soothing an uncomfortable baby in pain are physically tiresome and mentally exhausting. I remember this stage all too vividly. However, now I know that there is in fact, a light at the end of the tunnel. It gets much easier!
On this day however, Tristan’s baby was not experiencing any discomfort! He dons such a serious glare when he’s taking in new surroundings and people and I love this look. It makes you wonder what’s going through his head and you can almost put it into words… “Who IS this guy?”
Tristan’s baby likes to “eat” the faces of his loved ones. He grabs onto his dad’s face and kisses it. Except he’s at the stage where his kisses are open mouthed and it looks like he’s trying to eat your face instead of expressing his love and adoration! Throughout the photo shoot he would play with me and laugh and then, as toddlers do, he would run back to Mum and Dad for a quick snuggle to make sure everything is okay.
At the beginning of the photo shoot, Tristan and her family started walking on the trail and I was able to capture a few shots of her toddler walking on his own. The Belleville Waterfront Trail is a scenic trail beside the Bay of Quinte and a lot of locals use this trail for walking, biking and rollerblading. An older woman walking by literally stopped in her tracks to watch Tristan’s baby and I working together. She was mesmerized by this gorgeous little boy with his fair skin, blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes! And, she wasn’t the only one. There were quite a few people we overheard saying the same thing. Maybe this little guy should pursue a career in modeling?!
