Trusting a photographer to take your corporate photo can be nerve-wracking. If you own your own business or are arranging corporate photos for your staff, you want to be sure the photo shoot is worth every penny you spend. Planning a portion of your business’ budget for something that may be perceived as extravagant takes vision. Truth be told, you are your business. You are your work. People want to work with someone who is not only well-educated in their field but, is also kind and helpful. Taking accurate photos that gets you recognized as well as highlights your approachability is a worthwhile investment. It’s about marketing yourself as well as your work. Terry knew she wanted great corporate photos but, she didn’t know quite where to start…
Meet Terry with her corporate photo
Terry owns a recruiting agency that helps dentists to supply them with quality and experienced employees. She was referred to me by one of my wife’s past coworkers. Terry had experience taking corporate photos but, she wanted something different when working with me. She wanted her photos to look a little more friendly all the while maintaining a certain level of professionalism. When she showed me her past head shots, I knew right away that the images didn’t represent the kind of person Terry is. Upon meeting, I found Terry endearing, understanding and kind. Her original corporate photo said none of those wonderful things about Terry, so we worked together to create a more accurate representation.
Different Social Platforms, Different Image
Terry and I talked about where she was going to use her photos – Facebook, LinkedIn, her office website, dentist searching websites, etc. We brainstormed who her audience was on each platform and pulled together an image using small clothing, hair and background changes to suit her needs. Now, Terry has access to those photos to post where she sees fit.
Pride and Pictures
During the first part of our photo session, Terry was stiff and rigid and feeling unnatural in the photo shoot process. As time went on during our photo session, I started asking Terry about her work. What does she like about it? What are some unordinary experiences she’s had? While answering my questions, Terry loosened up. Her smile came easier, she even started laughing. We invest a lot of time in our work, especially if it’s a career that takes over our lifestyle. If we are proud of what we do, when we talk, it will show on our faces. Terry’s pride in her work showed and is definitely visible in the images we were able to capture.
The Final Product
Seeing Terry’s face when I showed her the final product was humbling. She told me that she had no idea she could take such fun yet, professional photos. She is proud of her photos and was so happy that she asked me a couple months later if I was available to shoot her own wedding. Unfortunately I was already booked for her date but would have loved the opportunity to work with Terry once again. I love working with people, gaining their trust and watching them open up so that they can have genuine images that represent what they are all about!
