Two weeks ago I photographed a traditional Chinese tea ceremony. I assist my friend Marcie on her wedding assignment that she had. Colorful dress and a lot of red colour was the news of the day. Minnie the bride to be was dress in traditional red dress waiting for her groom John, the Italian soul mate to arrive.
After the ceremony I sneak some great impressions of the bridge & the groom hidden from all curious eyes present at that day. The rest of the story the photos will tell.
The tea ceremony is the most significant event in a modern Chinese wedding. The bride is formally introduced to the groom’s family through the Chinese wedding tea ceremony. It will usually take place on the wedding day when most of the family members are present.
The bride is sweet and so is her tea!
Any sweet tea, symbolizing sweetness in the new union, is good for the Chinese wedding tea ceremony. You can use sweetened red tea for simplicity sake, but some traditional Chinese sweet teas are preferred for the good connotations in their names.
- Lotus seeds and red dates tea (莲子红枣茶)
Symbolizing that the couple will bear children quickly - continuously.
- Longans and red dates tea (龙眼红枣茶)
The longan represents a “dragon” and the wish for having male children.
More info regarding the Traditional Wedding tea Ceremony you can find here and more photos of this event you can find on DA Photography facebook page.
