Who knew?! Newborn baby photo props can be repurposed for an older brother or sister too! Adele’s daughter inspired me to take photos I hadn’t taken before and the result is incredible.
Props for Every Body
Newborn photo sessions always involve props. Their frail baby bodies need something to rest against and soft, furry blankets or baskets stuffed with pillows do the trick. Adele’s son was perfectly perched on the props for our newborn session when his older sister decided she wanted in on the action. In the past, I have worked with Adele’s older daughter on a maternity photo shoot that was just for the three of them — Mom (with baby brother in her tummy), Dad and their little girl. This time their little girl had to share the spotlight with her new baby brother, 3 weeks after he was born. She was really good about doing that, but when I was finished taking his photos using the props, she decided she wanted to use the props for her photos too. The end result is fantastic and I’m glad she had such a great idea!
Merry First Christmas!
Last year, Adele and her family celebrated their newborn’s first Christmas! Over the years his big sister will be able to tell him the tales of Santa, his reindeer and his helpful little elves. Big brothers and sisters help keep the magic of Christmas and Santa’s visits alive. Their younger siblings go to them with questions about Santa. How does he fit down the chimney? And, it’s big brother or sister’s job to teach the young ones Christmas carols and carefully leave cookies out for the big guy. Adele’s daughter will be one of the best big sisters for the job ahead! She was happy to show me her Christmas tree and the presents underneath. She was so kind with her baby brother and helped her parents take care of him throughout our photo shoot.
Staying Inside
At this time last year, there was snow on the ground. Hard to believe, eh?! It was the perfect winter day for an outdoor photo shoot, but given that it was a newborn photo shoot, we stayed indoors. My first priority when working with babies is to keep them warm and snuggled in close. This not only provides the best images, but it keeps baby comfortable and happy. And, it’s very important to keep baby happy!
Until Next Time…
Working with Adele and her family is always a great experience. She and her husband are easy-going and their daughter is active, but not camera shy. She’s come a long way and I love seeing her grow over the years.
My passion and biggest asset is taking the time to make every client comfortable and relaxed before I even pick up the camera. The result? Photos of you that actually look like you at your best! I can prove to you how much you can enjoy having your picture taken. Lifestyle photography is about the experience that happens to be served up along side of some great photos.
