Preparation is key to great photos for your Family Photo Shoot! Being a parent, I know that we cannot prepare for everything our kids throw at us. Sometimes when we are even just one step ahead of our little ones, we are able to divert mishaps just a little more often.
We have compiled a few notable points to think about when preparing for your big Family Photo Shoot.
Prepare your photographer
We suggest a pre-shoot consultation because every shoot is unique and we want to tailor our session to fit your expectations. We can answer questions, confirm details, discuss challenges and go over your expectations and ideas. Pinterest has been a great tool for our clients to express what they might like to see from their shoots! How else can you describe that particular shot from above with the sunlight and the way the kids’ were posing without posing?
Plan ahead for your Family Photo Shoot
You will want to arrive early and avoid the stress of rushing out the door and straight to an event while keeping everyone relaxed and happy. If there will be children in the photos, plan to give them advanced warning of what to expect for the shoot. Going to a new location? Need to practice happy smiles? Let them know the where, what, when and hows prior to the shoot so you get their buy-in.
Make sure everyone is well rested and fed for your family photo shoot
Nothing can ruin photos more than people that are not happy. Keep everyone from getting “hangry” by bringing water and snacks to the event. Also, if you can avoid it, don’t schedule your shoot after a late-night event or during nap time.

My passion and biggest asset is taking the time to make every client comfortable and relaxed before I even pick up the camera. The result? Photos of you that actually look like you at your best! I can prove to you how much you can enjoy having your picture taken. Lifestyle photography is about the experience that happens to be served up along side of some great photos.
